Social Media and Content Manager

The Social Media and Content Manager is an experienced content manager with social media expertise, who can flex between strategic and tactical execution, and drive engagement. This position executes on the overall consumer marketing strategy by developing and implementing PES’s content strategy, inclusive of social media, website, mobile app, newsletter, and brand messaging to enhance national brand awareness and brand support. This position works closely with multiple stakeholders to deliver relevant and insightful content and measures success by tracking and reporting on key performance indicators for these activities.

Essential Functions:

  • Develops content strategy for all social media channels
  • Collaborates with executive management to determine content and strategy
  • Determines monthly content calendar and keeps executive team abreast of monthly content strategy to support local posting
  • Writes, edits and maintains content that attracts attention, generates interest and is easily shared on digital channels (content channels may include: social media, website, mobile app, newsletter, brand messaging and marketing collateral, with a heavy emphasis on social media)
  • Manages national social media advertising strategy with responsibilities including managing the annual social media budget, determining which campaigns should be invested in, optimizing ads for maximum performance, conducting A/B testing and assessing results and metrics of each spend
  • Optimizes social media accounts for maximum performance
  • Oversees and manages daily content scheduling and posting while maintaining and sharing best practices for optimal engagement
  • Frequently partners with leadership, agency partners and internal teams to assure content strategy and requirements are clear and within the approved budget for the desired output
  • Ensures all content adheres to PES brand standard
  • Expert in measuring content performance through analytics for various social media channels
  • Ability to leverage content performance knowledge to shape and inform communication efforts and be more effective in delivering measurable results
  • Educates, coaches, and trains internal and external stakeholders on the importance of creating and managing an effective digital and social media presence, including reputation management
  • Shares industry and program-specific best practices for high-impact profiles to engage target audiences and communities
  • Identifies emerging trends in the social landscape, content marketing, and digital technology, and stays up-to-date of industry best practices for competitor advantage
  • Stays current on all social platforms ensuring maximum effectiveness
  • Leads other projects related to marketing, branding, and messaging for PES client enrollments

Education: Bachelor’s in Marketing, Communications, Journalism or equivalent preferred (preferred)


  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience leading content development and social media strategy
  • Expert knowledge of social media and content marketing best practices; experience using social media and content management platforms
  • Strong background in digital advertising
  • Outstanding writing, brand messaging and consumer engagement
  • Excellent project management skills, detail-oriented, highly organized with the ability to manage multiple deadlines efficiently
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; must be able to articulate ideas to creative agencies and marketing teams
  • Highly creative, motivated, resourceful, and self-directed with the ability to deliver under pressure; passion for creating compelling and engaging content
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced team-oriented environment
  • Superior working knowledge of social networking channels, including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube, Linked In, and blogging
  • Social media metrics and analytics
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud and Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)
